Brent was born in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1974 and graduated from the Mercersburg Academy in 1992. After beginning his law practice at the Florida law firms of Broad and Cassel, Fowler White Boggs Banker and Wicker Smith O’Hara & Ford, he relocated to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina to start his own law firm in 2008. He is married to Stirling Halversen and has two children, a son and a daughter.
Mr. Halversen litigates a variety of civil matters, ranging from Business and Municipal Law, Commercial Landlord-Tenant, Class Actions, Construction Litigation and Personal Injury to Bankruptcy Litigation, Probate Litigation, and Real Estate Litigation and Transactions– on behalf of both Plaintiffs and Defendants. He has significant experience representing title companies under their errors and omissions insurance policies, homeowners associations, and real estate developers and investors. Mr. Halversen has previously served as the City Attorney for Isle of Palms.
Mr. Halversen also has significant experience in Health Law, representing physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice litigation. He has represented a national hospital network and regional doctors in health care operations and litigation, including issues regarding medical staff privileges, peer review, fraud and abuse, HIPAA, medical records, and EMTALA. He has also handled matters related to federal HIPAA compliance.
